An Introduction to Mindfulness

Program for Nonprofit Staff Members Interested in Mindfulness

You may have heard about mindfulness and its ability to reduce stress, sustain attention, and improve well-being. Mindfulness has been incorporated into healthcare institutions, schools, and organizations of all different types. Decades of research reflect that mindfulness does in fact provide us with an ability to be more aware of what’s actually happening in the present moment, and allows us to make decisions and take action in beneficial ways.

These are challenging times right now. As a result of “stay at home orders” due to the pandemic, many are seeing a blurring of distinction between work and personal life. At the same time, our country is in the midst of a massive awakening in response to racism and violence. For many, these realities have created additional stressors and challenges that can be overwhelming and exhausting.

In this 75 minute experiential workshop participants will be introduced to mindfulness and will have an opportunity to explore how mindfulness might bring about a change in their lives. We will look at some of the science behind stress and its impact on the body and the mind. We’ll explore some of the common stressors that might impact our wellbeing at work and elsewhere in our lives and we’ll explore how mindfulness might give us an opportunity to change our approach to dealing with that stress.

Who should consider attending?

Any employee from a nonprofit organization who is interested in learning more about mindfulness should attend. No previous experience is required. A Zoom connection with a camera will be required for all participants.
